Buying a lounge chair? Test the TV sightline with HaloShort

A lounge chair can look perfect in a product photo, yet its armrests may make the remote hard to reach or its back may block someone else's view. When choosing a lounge or dining chair for TV time, check the sightline and reach from the spot where it will actually go.

First decide whether you're watching a fixed TV or a screen in your hand

A TV's position is usually fairly fixed, so when choosing a chair you can measure the actual placement space, see whether the orientation can be adjusted, and whether there's room to move around at your feet. A phone can be moved around freely, but just because subtitles are clear on the phone doesn't mean you'll be able to read TV subtitles clearly from that same spot.

If you have a sample, sit back in the intended spot and take a look

Test-placing a seat lets you check sightlines with a piece of real content. HaloShort's subtitles vary by episode, so find one in a language you understand and see whether the bottom of the picture is blocked by the coffee table or the backrest in front. Looking at the subtitles from a seat off to the side can also reveal problems you won't see standing directly in front of the TV.

Armrest height, the position of a side table, and where the remote goes can all be considered at this stage too. Confirm the chair's dimensions and adjustment methods from the product information. When several seating options are available, sit in each intended spot and take a look—it's easier to spot differences than by comparing product images alone.

Look beyond the price: map out how the chair will be used

When choosing a supplier or comparing samples, the size chart still matters. Sketching out the positions of the TV, table, walkway, and chair makes "good for watching TV" into a concrete requirement. Households with multiple users can also mark the few seats used most often, so you don't only cater to the one right in the middle.

Short dramas are just one kind of content for testing a scenario

HaloShort is currently free to use; you can find the download entry point via the Emotn store, and it works on compatible Android TV and Google TV devices. Just pick a story you can follow—no need to prepare a complicated watchlist just to test-place furniture.
